From the Prez
Greetings All,
This year, June 29th is "Drive Your Vette To Work Day". Come to find out, Mid America Motorworks began this tradition in 2000 as a way to celebrate the birthday of the Corvette. It has become an annual, national tradition ever since. It is based on the premise that everyone should drive their Vette to work at least one day a year. In past years, I have always noticed an additional amount of Vettes on the road and in parking lots on that day, it has always been a great sight. So, get your Vette out and drive it to work on the 29th. It’s a great fun plus it allows you to share your Vette enthusiasm with your co-workers. Don’t forget to "Wave" when you see your fellow Vette owners drive by.
Speaking of Vette enthusiasm, Nancy K. has been looking for ways to increase our membership via our website. I am sure that she would appreciate any feedback that anyone has.
It is also time to start gearing up for our next autocrosses and then our car show is right around the corner. I am hoping to see some new faces on some of the committees this year.
I hope all is well with everyone.
I look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting on the 28th.
Save the Wave!

Misc. ramblings from the Editor:
Hi Everyone,
We had a very relaxing vacation. I did put all the newsletter stuff I had
on a thumb drive and threw it in Dave's laptop bag - in case I wanted to work on
it while we were at sea. It never saw the light of day - even though there
are a lot more daylight hours in Alaska than we have in Denver. I went for
R&R&E (rest, relaxation and eating) - and I did lots of all three - not
necessarily in that order. While on the boat I was complaining about the
cool weather - but then we came back to almost 100 degrees - I was wishing I was
back there. There must be someplace in this country warmer than 60 but
cooler than 100 - but not my luck to go there.
We stopped in 3 cities in Alaska - didn't see any Vettes. Of course - you couldn't drive to any of those three cities. They had anywhere from 40 to 140 miles of roads - and no way out but boat or plane. Not the place for a Vette owner. Don't know what we would do if we couldn't hit the road. Very pretty country - but a little too remote (even if they do have Walmart and McDonald's) for me. We're putting about 10K miles per year on the Vette - so we'd be dizzy if we lived in one of these towns. No need to drive around in circles to put miles on your Vette in Colorado (although driving in circles at CSP is a blast). There is plenty to see and do. Check out the upcoming events section - flyers are coming in almost every week and are being posted on the regional site, and new events are still popping up. So if you are ready for a road trip - check out the regional calendar at the end of this newsletter, with near term event details in the upcoming events section of this newsletter. And check the regional website frequently (www.rmrnccc.org) for the latest info.
See you all Thursday.
Nancy B.

Club News:
Pre-Meeting Dinner Plans: From Deana: All are welcome to join us for dinner before the meeting on Thursday this week. We'll be meeting at 5:30 p.m. at Micky's Top Sirloin, 6950 Broadway. Just ask for the Corvette Club when being seated.
July Birthdays: - Mary D. - 1st; Bill S. -
2nd; John M. - 11th; Pam W - 15th; Dave C - 19th; Don R - 28th
Member Update - I received a very nice note from Ronda. She wanted to let
you all know she is doing great and is really enjoying being a flight
attendant. I will send that email out to the club separately as the
newsletter gets posted on the internet for all to see. Please note her new
email address included in the note.
Bruce K. has a few things for sale - thought I'd put them up here instead of at the end. And remember - Bill S. still has a set of wheels he is trying to sell. See the permanent ad at the end of newsletter.
Upcoming Events
Remember a current schedule of NCCC events, access to flyers,
event results and regional points standings can be found at www.rmrnccc.org
. As it is still early - remember, as clubs (ours included) firm up plans
dates may change, events may be added, etc - so check back often.
DtRC's next autocross - July 15th - Colorado National
Speedway - Erie
This is coming up shortly. If you can come help work contact
the Autocross committee - Frank A and Bill M and/or the chairpersons - Bill M
and Nancy K. Pre-register by 7/9 to save $5 per race. $30 each
for pre-registered, $35 each race for day of. There will be no Friday
night tech this time. Details will be sent to club members about when and
where to arrive to that morning to get the club cars teched before we all have
to start working (registration, tech, track setup, etc.). We can't get
into the facility very early that morning - so lots of help will be needed to
get things set up quickly and all the cars tech'd. For those non-DtRC and
non-DCA members that may be reading this - check the flyer for the opening time
of the track - please don't come early as you will end up waiting on a frontage
road, and we won't be able to process you until we've gotten in there and set
some stuff up.
DtRC's third autocross day - August 26th - Colorado National Speedway - Erie
More on this as it gets closer - just wanted you to mark your Calendars for our third race day of the year.
Keystone 4th of July events - DCA
This event is spread out over several days as sanctioned events can
only be held on Saturdays and Sundays - and a few other days like Memorial Day,
Labor Day and Fourth of July (don't know if there are any others or not).
So - Wednesday July 4th - 1:00 Funkhana (region sanctioned). Tenderfoot
lot at Keystone. Thursday and Friday there are non-sanctioned golf and
scenic drives. Saturday there are 2 region-sanctioned low-speed
autocrosses. See the flyer for the hotel arrangements DCA has setup, etc.
New to the Calendar - 2 Parking Lot Autocrosses - Central
Wyoming Corvettes - July 22nd
No flyer yet on this - but I have seen the sanction requests.
Before you get too excited remembering the closing of the 3.1 mile road loop to
traffic and the use of it for racing - the sanction request did say Parking lot
autocrosses and the event location is the Casper Event Center. As soon as
the flyer is received I will let you know more details.
Western Slope Weekend - 2 Rallyes and 3 Autocrosses -
August 11 & 12
This will be a big weekend - and it is a great time to drive across
to Grand Junction. On Saturday TORCA will host 2 rallyes - a poker rally
and a gimmick rally. These start in DeBeque - which is exit 62 off of I-70
(so about 44 miles east of Fruita). Tech and Registration is 1-2 with
drivers meeting at 2:00. Then the following day there are 3 autocrosses
hosted by CWC at the Fruita High School. It would be a blast to get a
bunch of us together to head over. We can discuss hotel choices, etc. at
the meeting this week and then we'll email out more details after we know them.
Corvette Roundup - Central Wyoming Corvettes - Labor Day Weekend - Details now available
Pre-registration is now open for the annual Corvette Roundup in Casper. All competition events are region-sanctioned. The autocross on the 3.1 mile road course will be limited to the first 100 "cars" according to the flyer. I don't know if they mean cars or entrants for that. The registration form says that event will be limited to 100 cars - and pre-registration only - no registration at the door. Registration cut-off is July 31st. There will be a show-and-shine, 2 rallyes run concurrently - gimmick and poker, the time-trial (aka autocross). You will get travel points for each day you participate in an event (once per day). In addition, country singer Vince Gill is in Casper that weekend and they are offering discounted $45 tickets to his concert - which is Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. For non-racers on autocross day there will be a cruise with a lunch stop during that time. The flyer, registration form and Vince Gill information are all in the same file and it is posted on the regional website calendar.
Past Events
CSCC - AutoCrosses - State Patrol Track - Golden - May 27th
We didn't go to this - but several club members did. Results have been received by the RCD and are posted on the regional website.
CWCC Autocrosses - Fruita - June 3rd
Another good turnout by DtRC. It was a gorgeous drive over on
Saturday, and the trip home was the usual drive through 4 or 5 rain
showers. The usual dinner at Rib City the night before. How nice of
them to put such a good restaurant within stumbling distance of the hotel.
With three races, it is a little cumbersome to report results here - our very
own Tammy B. took ladies FTD in all 3 races - way to go Tammy!! Times in
may classes were very close - amazing how tenths (or even hundredths) of a
second is the difference between several competitors. In a course that
takes roughly 50
seconds it comes down to less time between places than it take you to snap your
fingers.
Vettes on Broadway - DCA Show - June 16th & Father's Day Car Show - Heritage Square -
A HUGE thanks to Jackie & Mike M. for sending in the following (and don't ask me to interpret the secret code below - you'll need to do that yourself):
Wow what a hardware day for the DTRC on Saturday the 16th at Burt
Cheverolet. 1st place for the Blue flame C-5 of Daddy Don & Tanya. Don
& Carol took 2nd for their c-5 "Burning ring of Fire w/
Red stitches". I think this is correct?
John H. 1st for c-6 The Banana boat special
Jackie M.1st for c-2 67 Roadster or roaster
Mike M 1st for the once a year driven trailer Queen c-4 (ZR-1)
ABOUT 50 CARS came to play and had a ball lots of food fun and fellowship.
It was great to see the club work hard at the polish game.
Fathers Day June 17 is a WOW also!!! Rocky Mountain Corvette Show at Heritage
Sq. There were so many of us there I could not keep track Thank you
all who helped. The charity was "The Make A Wish
Foundation". There is child who's wish will come true due to the most
generous people on earth!!!!!! The DTRC club yea!!!! Great Job... NO,
***A SUPER GREAT JOB**** This is why I Joined The Best club ever.... You
all made a dream come true for Alex N. Who is not a car show nut, yet!!
Just a Nut
We Love you all
Jackie & Mike :)
Ed. Note - Mike sent several good photos from the shows - I'll get these posted on the DtRC website and send you a mail when they are there.

May Mystery Meal -
This was done on very short notice - and we only had 5 cars - but
it was a good time. After meeting in Longmont we hopped on the highway and
got off at the Harmony exit in Ft. Collins. Just on the east side of the
interstate is the Swetsville Zoo. This free attraction is the hard work of
a retired farmer who has a lot of imagination and talent. There are dozens
(maybe a hundred or more) statues of everything from dinosaurs to aliens to
snoopy and more. All made out of scrap metal and recycled pieces of
hardware. Our cars caught the owners eye - so he came and introduced
himself. He also gave us a private showing of his car storage
building. It contained drivable dinosaurs (you got to the purple dinosaurs
driver seat through the mouth that opened specifically for that purpose) and
other vehicles he has used in parades, etc. It is truly amazing, and well
worth a trip up there just to see all the statues - but definitely stop by if
you are in the area. Then it was back in the cars and off to Bud to see
the Clydesdales and the Dalmatian. And a break to sample the pretzels (and
something to wash them down with). Then across the eastern prairie and the
biggest banana splits you have ever seen. Most of us wimped out and had a
smaller sampling of ice cream - but Bill S and Don R showed us they were up to
the task - brain freeze and all. In addition to the ice cream and toppings
- each one must have had a whole can of whipped cream on top of it. Yummy.
June Mystery Meal -
By Deana D.
A big thank you to Phil O.
for putting together a great trip on Saturday, June
23rd. With 8 Corvettes, we started
out at the RTD in
This years social committee is Deana D., Mary Kay K. So please contact them if you have ideas for activities or are willing to lead a mystery (or non-mystery) meal, or activity. Some of the things we have done in past years (other than the many driving and/or eating events) - bowling, indoor go-karts, IMAX, plays, comedy clubs, etc. Mary Kay can assist you with finding a date that doesn't conflict with other club events, and give you suggestions on making plans for a large group. If you are willing to organize something - please contact her.
Upcoming Mystery Meals -
Keep an eye on your email and future newsletters - here is the sign-up
list of the volunteers for the next several mystery meals: Carol &
Dallas - July; Roger & Deana - August; Bill & Cathy -
September. Also another picnic is in the planning to be held at Tim &
Pat B.s. Details soon.
Governor’s Report
-
By Nancy B.
NCCC Calendar - new event - Central Wyoming Corvettes - 2 parking lot autocrosses - July 22nd. No flyer yet - I've just seen the sanction requests. When the flyer comes out I'll send you an email that it is posted. The flyer is available for the Torca event on the Western Slope - there will be two events - not just one - so make sure to check out the flyer. Details for all the near term events are summarized in the upcoming events sections - and for complete details see the flyers posted on www.rmrnccc.org .
Well - competition is HOT and HEAVY this year. A lot of people going to a lot of events. There were 13 events between 5/12 and 6/3. A lot of items for the RCD (and the webmaster) to process. As the region hosts more events every year - it really does mean a lot of work for our RCD Larry M. Next time you see him - tell him thanks - he does a lot of work so we can all go out and have some friendly, "competitive" fun. All that paperwork is in on those events and results and standings all posted. The results aren't in for the DCA people's choice show yet - but as of 6/3 DtRC members are in 1st and 3rd place for BOTH men's and ladies. DtRC is in 3rd place - significantly behind TORCA, and slightly behind CSCC. As of the June Governor's meeting - Torca is now the largest NCCC club in the region. Regional participation - both from region members going to events, and more and more region clubs hosting events, is increasing every year. So whether you prefer shows, rallys or races (or all three) there is lots out there to do. Come on out and have some fun.
Late breaking news - the patches are in. The regional patches the club voted to buy one for each member are in - and so are the club region championship patches. I'll have these at the meeting on Thursday and for those that can't make the meeting I'll contact you to see how to get you yours.

Wow, the last few weeks have been very busy drawing raffles at the museum!
For those of you holding tickets for the Victory Red coupe, I’m sorry to tell you that Ron Terpening won it. In other raffles, Robert Sheh won the Fellows Z/06, Paul Borchardt won the Build Your Own Corvette and James Forsythe won the silver coupe. The next raffle will be for an 07 Indy Pace Car being held on July 25th. Tickets are still available at $100 each and only 2007 tickets will be sold.
Just in case you didn’t know, Friday June 29th is Drive Your Vette to Work Day. Let’s all get our beauties our of the garage and show the world we’re not afraid to drive them!
The Museum has just announce the results of a study done by The American Associations of Museums. The study found that the average museum takes in about $10.65 per visitor while the NCM pulls in in $56.84. I guess this just proves how important we all fell the museum is to all of us!
In other news, the last 2007 Corvette will roll off the line on Friday June 22nd and the first of the 08’s will come off the line on Monday June 25th. The plant will be shut down for summer break from June 29th through July 16th. So, if you are planning a visit to Bowling Green during that time period, you won’t be able to take the plant tour.
Finally, this news just in! The museum has made a tough call. Based on your strong support of the building campaign, the museum has decided that construction costs are rising faster than interest on a loan, so the Museum has gone ahead and committed to borrowing the remainder of the finds needs to build the addition to the Museum. Ground breaking will be next spring during the C4/ZR1 Bash and the grand opening is scheduled for the last week in August of 2009, just in time for the caravans for the 15th Anniversary to arrive!
Speaking of the Caravan, the caravan web site is now up and running and registration will be open soon. Check out the site at www.corvettecaravan.com !
